Description
Composed in recognition of Alijam Music’s participation in the 2019 National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy in Lombard, IL (part of the greater Chicago metropolitan area), this riveting piece is a gale-force showcase for late intermediate performers. The title is somewhat tongue-in-cheek because, well, have you ever danced a waltz in high-speed winds? The contemporary chord progressions and numerous chromatic passages make the piece more logical without a key signature. (It starts in D minor and ends in C major.) This concert-quality, recital-ready work is flashy, exciting, and impressive!
Key: D minor, C major, and others
Mood: intense, with a calm middle section
Pedagogy: chromatic scale, dynamics, pedaling
wandamusic –
What a marvelous upbeat piece! If you have a student that is a few years from Revolutioniary Etude, and likes modern sounding drama and rolling arpeggios in the left hand, this is just the ticket.
