Rockin’ Robin
From $3.00
This classic Rock and Roll hit from the late 1950s is exceptionally fun for everyone, especially with James L. King III’s arrangement that stays true to the original!
Leon René, using the pseudonym Jimmie Thomas, composed this piece in 1958. Bobby Day had the first hit with it that same year, and in 1972, Michael Jackson performed a cover of this tune. Both times, the song reached number 2 on Billboard’s Top 100 chart.
James L. King III’s intermediate arrangement of this piece walks a fine line between absolute faithfulness to the original and simplifying rhythms to make the piece easier to read. Students will work on the classic rock and roll walking bass patterns (three of them are present in this arrangement).
