This is another piece in James King’s “First” series which introduces students to different styles and new forms of music. First Prelude is an exceptional lyrical piece in C 5-finger position with no extensions, no rhythm values shorter than a quarter note, with a ritardando and fermata at the end of the piece. Students reinforce basic note reading and rests and simple dynamics.
