Description
This illness-themed rag was published 9 years before the Spanish Flu epidemic in 1918. Webb Long’s tune is a happy-go-lucky infectious rag (get it?) that tried to use its pun to propel itself into greater sales. This abridgement and arrangement keeps all the themes present. Students will gain experience with 16th note syncopation, chromatic scales, diminished seventh chords, and much more! It’s a tongue in cheek way to keep practicing even when ill!
Key: C Major/F Major
Mood: happy, catchy
Pedagogy: syncopation, diminished seventh chords, chromatic scales
