Description
This Irish tune has a number of titles, depending on the lyricist: Lough Erin Shore, Gleanntáin Ghlas’ Ghaoth Dobhair, and Paddy’s Green Shamrock Shore. The lyrics, while all slightly different, come from the Irish Diaspora that happened during the Great Potato Famine of 1845-1849. This arrangement of the main theme is a very easy intermediate level, and can probably be achieved by motivated early intermediate students. It is flowing and lush, with lots of pedal work involved.
Key: D Mixolydian
Mood: calm, melancholy, yearning
Pedagogy: pedaling, finger substitution
