Bootleggers’ Blues
This minor key 1920s-style blues piece is not only the bee’s knees, it’s the berries, too!
This minor key blues is technically early intermediate, but it is so pattern-based that a motivated late elementary student will have no problems with it! The middle section has chord symbols and a chart for the 5-finger blues scale if the student wants to try their hand (no pun inten–no, wait, I intended that pun) at improvisation.
It’s snappy, it’s mysterious, it’s easily learned, thanks to the repeating patterns in both hands! A sure student saver!
