Description

Inspired by missed connections and impossibly short layovers caused by airline errors, and intense rushing to try to make connections (Who seriously thinks you can make a connecting flight in ATL in 6 minutes? At least one airline does!), this piece is a fast and furious 6/8 minor key tarantella, but there’s a soothing surprise in the middle, which just makes the ending that much more intense. While it’s leveled late-intermediate, the patterns are fairly straightforward to master, so a motivated intermediate student will likely have a blast with this piece.

Key: C minor, G major

Mood: hurried, intense, frazzled, angry

Pedagogy: 6/8 time, ostinato bass, octave melodies, pedaling, extreme dynamic changes, repeated note fingerings, chromatic scales.
