Description
This Brazilian Portuguese folk song is about a boy who loves a girl named Maria and is asking her if he loves her back, because he is going to ask her father if he can marry her. The expressive minor melody is sweet and simple and is one of the most popular children’s folk songs in Brazil. This early intermediate arrangement uses the standard melodic contour of the original melody played twice after a short introduction, then includes an embellished melody for the third verse. The left hand stays in standard i-iv-V three-note voicing, while the right hand melody moves around a little.
