Chopin composed 21 Nocturnes for solo piano between 1827 and 1846. Building on the form developed by Irish composer John Field, they are generally considered among the finest short solo works for the instrument and hold an important place in concert repertoire.

By far, the most popular of these nocturnes is the second one from his Opus 9. This arrangement (transposed to C) keeps most of the famous parts of this gorgeous Nocturne while making it easier and more accessible for intermediate players.

Key: C major

Mood: melancholy, soulful
