In Old Havana

(1 customer review)

This late intermediate latin-styled piece will have everyone dancing in the street carnival and drinking cafecito! (Drinking a shot of the iconic Cuban coffee might help with the speed and intricate rhythms!)

Description

In Old Havana is a highly energetic latin-styled piece with lots of rhythmic interest. This piece challenges intermediate and late intermediate students with professional latin “montuno” piano rhythms that are common in Havana and South Florida, but when mastered, will be an impressive recital and a good performance piece later for gigs that need an upbeat latin dance number. Mixtures of son and rhumba claves keep listeners and performers on their toes.

Key: A minor

Mood: carnival-street-celebration-happy

Pedagogy: intricate latin rhythm clave syncopations, staccato

In Old Havana is such a fun, and rthymically-challenging, piece to play! If you want to sharpen your rhythm skills, this is the piece for you! I love it!
