Description
This composition was created especially for the 2019 Texas Music Teacher’s Association Conference in Houston.
Taysha is one of the spellings of an Native American word that eventually became the name of the state of Texas. The word means “friends” or “friendship.” The three parts stay in C 5-finger position with occasional accidentals. The piece has a surprisingly easy counterpoint section that “rounds up” all the fingers, Texas-style.
Individual parts and a combined score are provided for maximum flexibility.
Key: C Major
Mood: happy, friendly, cooperating
Pedagogy: ensemble playing, accidentals, repeats, hands together playing, counterpoint between two players.
