For all those epic moments, you’ll find that this arrangement of Sunrise from Richard Strauss’s Also Sprach Zarathustra is as bold as you remember from the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. Intermediate level students (some motivated early intermediates with octave handspans can probably handle this too) will get to practice fast left hand leaps from bass notes to mid-range chords. It’s an absolute winner for recitals.
